What Would You Do?

So I'm going to ask a question about something we all dream about when we don't have it. Financial stability and dreams. What would you be doing if you were finacially stable? If money wasn't an issue what would you do? Would you travel? Go back to school? Try that dream job? Try something you are too afraid to do now? If money wasn't an issue, what would you be? Who would you be? Money rules so much more than we really understand. Think outside the box. Out of the social norms. What would be your ultimate life?

2013 I'm Baaaaacccckkkkk!

Hello Loves!!!

So, it has been a loooooong time since I've been on here. So much has changed. My way of life, thought, eating.... so much. So this post will be a "let's catch up" post. Ok! Let us begin!

First off, I've changed jobs! Awesome move on my part. I was sooo stagnet and ready to call it quits. I'd been there for two years, was second in the distric, and getting praised at every turn. However, when I asked for a pay raise (the pay was a joke for the work I was doing), wasn't happening. Therefore, I started looking for another position and within two weeks, I had a offer! Sad to leave the people and clients at the old job, but in the long run it was past due and very much needed. I've been at my new job for seven months now. It's a higher position from my past job and the pay is better. We shall see how it goes, but so far so good!

Second, over the past year, I have been slowly getting rid of things. It started off monthly, just going through my belongings and either tossing what was unusable or taking things to the goodwill. It soon started to be a weekly event. I have always thought of driving crosscountry with everything I own. Just getting up and going at the drop of a dime whenever I wanted too! I would look around at all my stuff and wonder how in the world I would be able to do that with all my stuff. The clothes that I had that I hardly wore. The tons of books that I had! The shoes, the dvds (my happiness), the dish sets (which is crazy since it is just little ole me), the hockey stick and skates from my short lived ice hockey stint (rather watch then play. Go Penguins!). So much more than I can type! Slowly but surely I got down to the bare basics. What could I not live without. And I am so happy to say that I now have everything I need and can actually fit everything in my car and go whenever I want! Will definitly be doing a post on this later!

Thirdly, I bought a car!!! My very first car that I paid for myself! *Happy dance* Gaze on my happiness!!

Fourth, I have gone back to being vegan! Sooo happy I made the change. My body is praising me everyday! My skin looks great, I've lost about 12 pounds, and I have sooo much energy! I would be considered more of a raw vegan, with the majority of my diet being fruits and vegetables. Bye bye to the processed foods, dairy, meat, seafood, alcohol, etc. I also have cut out on pasta, grains, bread, sugar, etc. I have rice and pasta every blue moon, but don't like the heavy feeling it gives me after.

Fifth, I also dated someone for a bit and all I can say is never lower your standards, never date someone who got out of a bad breakup (even if they had been single for over a YEAR!!! You will take on all their ex's mistakes.) And opposites may attract, but don't always work. ;-)

And that is a quick rundown on some of the changes that have gone on! Hope all is well and look for more posts from me!

A Minimalist's Train of Thought from The Everyday Minimalist

A Minimalist’s Train of Thought

Less money spent means more money saved
More money saved means the longer you can live in financial peace and security
Financial peace and security comes from owning less
Less stuff owned means less to carry around, move or have to travel with
Less responsibility for your stuff also means less maintenance and more time
The more time you have, the more relaxed you will feel
The more relaxed you are, the less you will care about stuff
If you care less about stuff, it means you’ll care less about image
If you care less about image, you will care more about experiences and memories
If you care more about experiences and memories, you will be happier with less
If you are happier with less, you’ll never want or need for more
The less you want or need for more, the more you will feel free

The 5 stages of locs/dreads

The 5 stages of locs/dreads

1. Coils — Coils resemble tightly coiled springs that look like baby spirals and can be as small as a watch spring or fluid and loose as fusilli. Hair can be as short or as long as one likes. The key factor here is that your hair is able to form and hold a coil, but the hair within the coil has not yet begun to intertwine or mesh.

2. Sprouts and Buds — Known as Sprouting or Budding is that miraculous moment when the magic has begun. First, you shampoo your hair and notice that all of a sudden, the coils don't all wash out like they used to. You may notice that some of your coils have little knots of hair in them, about the size of a small pea. This knot is more or less the nucleus of each lock; the hairs in your coils have begun to intertwine and interlace. Individual coils may seem puffy and lose their tightly coiled shape; this is part of the process and shouldn't be disturbed. What is important here is to keep the original scalp partings, to allow the spinning process to become established for each individual lock. Don't redivide your budding locks, twist them to death, or get to patting them down, trying to make your hair look "nice," because you'll just end up with a badly packed, busted-out do.

3. Teen or Locking Stage — This is when the buds and sprouts truly begin to look like locks and few, if any, locks shampoo out or come out during sleep. The peas you saw and felt in the budding stage have expanded, and the hair has spun into a network of intertwining strands that extend throughout the length of individual locks. The locks may be soft and pliable or feel loosely meshed, according to your hair's texture. This is the growing stage of lock development, and it extends into the lock's mature stage. Shampooing doesn't loosen these locks. They have dropped, which means they have developed enough to hang down versus defying gravity. This is when you start to relax and feel more confident about locking.

4. Mature Stage — Each individual lock is firmly meshed or tightly interwoven. Some loosely coiled hair textures may retain a small curl or coil at the end of the locks, but most will probably be closed at the ends. You will begin to see consistent growth because each lock has intertwined and contracted into a cylindrical shape. Think of each individual lock as a hair strand in itself. The new growth is contained in the loose hair at the base or root of each individual lock, and regular grooming encourages it to spin into an intertwined coil that will be integrated with the lock.

5. Beyond Maturity — Think of this stage as akin to the shedding stage of hair growth. After many years, depending on the care you have lavished on your locks, some locks may begin to thin and break off at the ends. For the most part, this deterioration can be minimized and controlled by monitoring the ends of your locks for signs of age and getting regular trims.

R.I.P. Elizabeth Taylor

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, DBE (February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011), was an English-born American actress. She first became famous as a child actress, and later recognized for her superior acting talent and striking beauty, especially with her violet eyes. Taylor's much publicized private life included eight marriages and several life-threatening illnesses. She used her stardom to promote many social causes, among them AIDS research. As a two-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, Taylor is considered one of the great screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age. The American Film Institute named her seventh on its Female Legend list.

My Brother's Choreography and Music

My autistic brother Julian dances, choreographs, and makes his own music. Seriously a gift from God! Take a look!

Bummed

So, I decide to get on here and write a fresh blog and something told me to check out some of my old pieces. I was seriously surprised to notice that some of them were missing. I go to the check for them and they were saved as drafts! I open them and of course they are all gone, so at the moment I'm ticked, pissed, annoyed, and every other word you might want to use.

Oh well, back to the drawing board!

R.I.P Teena Marie

Teena Marie was an American singer, songwriter and producer. Marie, nicknamed Lady Tee, (sometimes spelled Lady T), was a protégée of funk legend Rick James, and was notable as one of the few successful white performers of R&B and the first white person to be signed to the Motown record label in 1979. She played rhythm guitar, keyboards and congas. She also wrote, produced, sang and arranged virtually all of her songs since her 1980 release, Irons in the Fire.
Marie died of natural causes on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at home in Pasadena, California. She was an AMAZING artist and will definitely be missed!

Economy in turmoil yet holiday consumerism still goes strong... wth!

For the past couple of months, the madness of holiday shopping has brought foolishness out in the open. I should rephrase that sentence. Foolishness has always been out in the open, yet the madness has come to a serious all-time high. We are in some of the hardest times in American history and yet we spend money around the holidays like it's going out of style!

I have seen elderly people in their 70's curse people out! (The anger came from the couple before them taking the last tv set that they wanted. O_O Yes, over a tv set.) Stores are extending their hours, "sales" are going on every other day, coupons, new gadgets (very few made in our country), clothing and shoe styles that are illogical, not made in our country, over priced, won't last long, and look... eww!

I'm saddened by everything that is going on in the world, but especially this country. We have more people loosing jobs, their homes, no health insurance, car insurance, the list goes on and on (and on and on and on) yet we still put money into the wrong things (my opinion)! I agree that if you NEED something, then great sales are the perfect time to get them. However, I feel people misunderstand what their NEEDS and wants are. My to you is to reevaluate what you really need. I think if we all sat down and looked around our homes, we'd find a lot of things that we thought we NEEDED but really don't.

P.S. Not meant to upset anyone. This is my blog, this is me venting, don't like it don't follow. Happy Holidays! ;-)

Eye Opening Situations = Peace & Love

Song of the Moment: Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin

Huge eye opening experiences have been blooming all through my life for the past two weeks. Things that i've known for a while but haven't actual put into motion. Enough is enough, they are now in motion.
